Al Gore, 'Avatar' director to attend Brazil environment forum

Former US vice president Al Gore and "Avatar" director James Cameron will attend next month's International Sustainability Forum in northern Manaus, Brazilian media said Thursday.
Cameron and Gore are scheduled to give speeches at the March 26-27 event in the northern Amazon city, event organizers told the Estado, Folha and G1 news agencies.
Gore, the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winner, has spearheaded a global warming awareness program that became widely-acclaimed through the 2006 documentary film "An Inconvenient Truth."
Cameron's latest film "Avatar" and its depiction of a lush, forested planet coveted by greedy human mining concerns became the biggest grossing movie of all time and is nominated for eight Oscars.
Scientist Thomas Lovejoy, chief biodiversity adviser to the World Bank and United Nations Foundation will also attend the forum, the agencies said.
